  • Led the development, testing and implementation of a specialized insurance accounting system that automates critical monthly business processes, calculating, for example, loss reserves, acquisition costs, and commissions, and posting the results to the data warehouse and the general ledger
  • Delivered an activity-based costing system that enables C-level executives to conduct program-level profit and loss analysis via the capture of activity assignments for all employees, allocation of HR costs to profit centers, and aggregation of all program revenues and expenses including distribution of overhead
    • Managed a small team of analysts and developers to design, develop and test three integrated modules
    • Produced user documentation and training for all senior company executives
    • Deployed the system’s first phase in under six months

Its first undertaking was to spawn the innovative and successful on-line insurance agency InsureZone, in partnership with Higginbotham & Associates (then the 78th largest insurance broker in the USA).

  • Delivered platform integrations with insurance carriers using XML messaging and screen conversion technology (in separate integrations) using distributed project teams
  • Managed outsourcing of development tasks, including formal contractor selection process, progress monitoring and comprehensive acceptance testing
  • Created and implemented methodologies for internal development processes based on industry standards
  • Wrote functional specifications used successfully to develop platform software components and consumer-facing web applications; provided the technical sections of the solution architecture documents
  • Conducted technical presentations to staff of major insurance carriers in support of pre-sales activities
  • Collaborated with the Chief Architect to design XML messaging and transaction semantics
  • Analyzed business processes with subject matter experts to specify integration requirements; collaborated with developers, engineers and users at all levels; worked with senior managers as internal clients
